Jeanne Rogers, a native Long Islander, received her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Alfred University, NY and her Master of Science degree in Art Education from SUNY New Paltz. Post graduate studies include those from C.W. Post and Parsons School of Design. Her professional training in watercolor included workshops under the direction of noted members of the American Watercolor Society. Though watercolor remains a favorite, she
successfully works in oils, acrylic, pastels (especially for portraits),
collage, mixed media and graphic design. Though land and seascapes,
florals, and still lifes, predominate in her subject matter, she
continues to accept commissions to paint or render in pen and ink,
personal house portraits, which she finds enjoyable as well.
Besides working as a freelance artist she has taught art at all levels in
both public and private schools, was art consultant and adjunct professor
at Dowling College, and taught Staff Development courses in painting to
teachers for the Teacher's Center of the Islips. Her award winning work
has been shown in local galleries, libraries, benefit, invitational and
juried shows and can be found in private collections including Mrs. Phipps
of Old Westbury Gardens, Daniel Gale Realty in Cold Spring Harbor, Sound
Realty in East Patchogue and Coach Realty in East Islip, as well as
permanent public collections including Islip Public Library.
Jeanne's abstract acrylic painting entitled "Color Explosion" was
selected for the Premier Edition of the magazine "Suffolk Woman Watch".
